Received Monday, 9.45 a.m. " • LONDON, Nov. 7, FoUowing m appeal by the presilent pf the Seciimty Council, Dr. "H. V. Evatt, to King Paul and tjie Prime Minister, M. Sophoulis, ten Greek trade union leaders w-ho were sentenced to death, by gn Athens court-martial on November 4 Itave been temporarily reprieved. In his, pqnin'iunication, Dr. Evgtt said that execution at this time would seriously interf'ere with tjie United Nations' attempts for conoiliation in the Balkans case. The men were found guilty of sending money and recruits to the guerrillas. Eight of the ten sentenced were tq have faced the ffring squad tomorrow- The other two wero waiting decisions on their appeals for mercy. In London, a deputation of 18 trade unionists with 100 supporters protested outside the Greek Embassy against the threatened executions of the ten Greeks. Police reiinforcemei)ts were called to confcroi the angry demonstrators, who hammered on the closed Embassy doors, The demonstrators, when toid that there would be no ofhcjals available until tomorrow, put a written protest in the letter box.
