Miss Shirley Patricia MacDougall, a 17-year-old nurse, was incinerated and another nurse badly. burned wheii.' a fire gutted a section of the hurses ', quarters and threatened the Manijla Ilospital in Northern New Sout'h* Waies early today. " The building was a converted qrrmy hut eonnected to the main nursfes ' quarters. " The nurses were asleep in their roonis when the fire" broke out. The cor'ridor and' entranees to the cubicles .were' a niass of fianies through which ohe gir! rau to saf ety. She suffered severe burhs and, shoek but is in no danger. Another nurse eseaped by diving through a window. .M iss MacDougall was killed in, her bed when the blazing roof fell ou her; It is believed that the fire started in her room. The local fire brigade managed to isolate the fire from the main, hospital building and it was not neeessary . to evacuate patients. , ' .
