INVERCARGILL, Nov. 3. With the Oreti River in high flood, the western distriets of Southland were ( completely isolated by road today. For flve to six hours road traffic was held up at the iron bridge on the Invercar* gill-Riverton highway and- at Lochiel, Winton, Centre Bushr Benmore and Dipton on the Invercargill-Queenstown highway— a road which serves a big part of Western Southland. It was possible to negotiate the road at Lochiel at 2 o'clock this afternoon and it was expected that the other roads would be clear tonight. Better weather was experieneed in most distriets today .and it is not expected that further flooding will occur. No stock losses have been reported by down-country farmers. Ample warning was received by farmers that 'there was danger of floods and thdse with stoclc grazing near the river took the precaution of moving stock to higher ground. :
