New Zealanders Play In Australian Foursomes

Received Sunday, 7 p.m. MELBOURNE, Oct. 10. R. S. Brown and D. Baclili won the Australian golf foursomes championship on the Metropolitan links today, with rounds of 69 and 76. Their first round of 18 holes was only two off the eourse foursomes record of 67. Silk and Glading were the most suecessful New Zealand pair. They had rounds of 77 and 71 and finished in fourth plaee one stroke ahead of Hornabrook and Woon, 76 and 76. Roberts, the Newr Zealand team manager, partnered by Alex Russell, former Australian open champion, were well back m the field with rounds of 84 and 85. After the brilliant first round, Brown and Baehli led H. W. Hattersley and A. N. Waterson by four strokes and only needed a reasonable second round to have the ehampionship safely in their keeping. Their card for the first 18 read: — Out: 3 3 5443 5 3 5 — 35. In: 45434253 4—34. In the second 18 holes they finished with three fives but still had a card of 76. Rain wliieh set in at lunchtime, spoilt the afternoon rounds when Silk and Glading returned a 74. This equalled the best round in the afternoon. Scores:^R. S. Brown and D. Bachli 69, 76 — 145. W. A.
