Vandals Destroy Tulips In Botanical Gardens

WELLINGTON, Oct. 10. Vandals early tkis niorning destroyed hundreds of tulips in four of the main beds in the Botanical Gardens. The fiowerbeds were in readiness for ' ' Tulip Btmday ' ' which was observed today. Tulip bulbs, leaves and heads were strewn everywhere. Iceland poppies and cincrarias were also wantonly

destroyed. Heads were knoclted 06! poppies and plants trampled down and cinerarias were uprooted. Most people who saw the trampled beds attvibuted the damage to dogs, northerlies and

bad weather. Few guessed the real reason- :
