AUCKLAND, Oct. 7. Men's wage rates will be claimed for 5500 women wqrkinp- in Auckland as. furriers, shirtmakers, clothing operatives, dressmakers, milliners and shop tailoresses. Their present industrial agreements expire on Decdmber 12. Application will be made by the Auckland Tailoresses' Union, to which the women belong. All are sewers, machinists and pressers with a,n award wage of £4 6s weekly, though some have been earning up to £9. It is stated that some of the women have been teaching men their jdbs.
