Oct. 7N "In connection with the application for bail, Sir, I have to inform the court that at the time of the offence, which we ailege is one. of attempted kidnapping, accused' was wearing dark glasses and a pair of such glasses were found in accused's possession when he was arrested by Detective Harpep and Constable Christoffersen, together with a loaded automatic pistol and seven . rounds of ammunition, which will he the subject of another charge." Sub-Detective G. E- Callaghan stated this in the Magistrate's Court today when referring to an application for bail by counsel on behalf of Malcolm David Glasspole, aged 31, company director. Accused was charged' that on October 5 he did attempt to take away a child, Deborah Janet Todd, aged nine, with inten't to deprive her parent, Bryan James Todd, of possession of the child. On the application of Detective Callaghan, the magistrate, Mr. A. A. McLachlan, S.M., the case was 'remanded until October 14. Bail was granted at £100 m- accused's own recognisance and a surety for the same amount.
