Review Shows That Shooting y Has Improved
Some interesting points are disclosed in a review of the miniature riile season in this district. Worthy of note are the scores in the Horo whenua Association's competition for the aggregate cup, there being a difference of only 13 points in> the first 20 plaeings, with eaeh club represented. C. The Levin Club toppea ihe iist with an aggregate of 11.390, Ohau being a close second with 11,359 and Poroutawhao (11.305) and Shannon (10,782) not far beliind. Highest team score in any match weiit to Ohau, whose total of 1929 siooa out weli fiom Poroutawhao (19171, Levin (.1911) and Shannon (1871). Speculation was considerable during the season as to which team in the various grades would return fhe best score. At the conclusion of the season, the results were: — A grade: Poroutawhao 492 (possible, 500); B grade: Levin 484; C grade: Poroutawhao 484; D grade: Levin 481. It is interesting to note that in the four grades there is only a diiierence of 11 points. In comparing these records with those of last season a considerable ! improvement in the standard of ! shooting is st en. the scores t'hen j being: — A grade, 484; B grade, j 480; C grade, 462; and D grade,! 463. Finally. as the season draws to a close advice is received that thej New Zealand Smalibore Rifle As- j sociation is conducting an inter- 1 association teams match covering ; all affiliated clubs in New Zealand The Horo whenua Association has ; entered a team and the names of those seleeted will be published next week.
