Exceptionally Good Demand For Ayrshires
Aii exceptionally good dernahd greeted th'e sixth annual Ayrshire bull and lieifer sale at the Showgrounds, Palmerston North, yesterday, condueted by New Zealand Loan and Mereantile .Agency Company. Competition for the 5S beasts tvas widespread and, considering the unfavourable autumn experieneed earlier in the year, the cattle were in good order. The general tone of the sale went to prove the rapidly increasing popuiarity of Ayrshires for the building up of herds. A number of biiyers attended with the idea of ostftblishing herds with a good Ayrsliire base. Bulls in the sale -average 44 guineas, and Ihe heif ers- • averaged 274 ' guineas. Tliree bull lots reaehed 100 guineas and up. Top price was 120 guineas, paid by Mr. Hugh McDonald (Linton) to A1 r. A. Henwood (Hunterville). The beast was Glenhead Boyal Chief. Seeond top price was obtained by Eden Park Majestic, offered by A. D. Buchanan and Sons (Tiakitahuna) and bought by Carter and Sons (Bulls) for 1071 guineas. Waioma Grand Duke obtained a price of 100 guineas, for the vendor, Mr. A. Henwood (Hunterville). The purchaser was Mr. Hugh McDonald (Linton).
