Te Horo Institute Meets

In the absence of the president,* Mrs. R. Johnson, the vice-presi-dent, Mrs. A. L. McDonaid, preside'd over a gobd attendance of members at tne Septemoer meeting of the Te Horo Women's Insutuue, held in the le Horo Hall. After greeting memDers, Mrs. McDonaid made reference to the passing of one of the foundation memDers, the late Mrs. A. E. Terry, of Feilding. A motion of condoience with her family- was passed. An acKnowledgment of food parcels from a nnk in England, Partington, was received, expressing thanks and advising that aitnough a large Dranch, ad memDers had received some token of food from the Te Horo Institute. A communication from the Levin Farm was rea'd thanking the institute for the large number of articles forwarded. It advised ohat the Doys and girls wouid De aoie to maKe good use of them. It was agreed to write to the pupils of the Te Horo School, tnankmg them for the part they had played in collecting these articles, and to forward the thanks of the institute and the recipients. Mesdames McDonaid and O. Snirnack were appointed as delegates to attend the South Wellington .Council meeting on October 7. The guest speaker for the day was Mr. Goldsmith, a poultry instructor from the Department of Agriculture, who spoke on care and attention of backyard poultry. His a'ddress was appreciated Dy memDers and listened to with keen interest. A vote of thanks was aecorded him on the motion of Mrs. McDonaid. A presentation was made to the speaker and a Douquet han'ded to Mrs. Goldsmifln. By invitation, Mrs. S. Ridge, a former member who has tranSferred to' a sister institute, was present to receive her farewell token, and also a dainty shoulder spray. Mrs. Ridge deughted all with two vocal solos, "I'll Walk Beside You" and "Wnen I Grow too Old to Dream." The next overseaS parcel is to De packed Dy Mesdames J . RoDinson and G. Marino. A delicious homemade afternoon tea was served Dy the hostesses, Mesdames R. W. Jenkins and H. Lumsden, and competitions, judged Dy popular vote, were won Dy the following: — : Marmalade : Mrs. Lumsden 1, Mrs. C. Sutton 2, Mrs. J. RoDinson 3. Bowl of spring flowers: Mrs. Shirnack 1, Mrs. Lumsden 2, Mrs. Sutton 3. Best flower: Mrs. S. Geange 1, Mrs. D. Grant 2. Mrs. Jenkins' special was won Dy Mrs. D. Mclsaac. October 9 was the date agreed on for holding a concert in the Te Horo Hall for institute fun'ds. It was reported that arrangements were well in hand and an enjoyable evening is anticipated.
