Australia Pays Heavily For Wheat Sales To N.Z.
Received Wednesday, 10.35 a.m. CANBERRA, Oct. 6. For the first two years of its ooeration the wheat sale agreement with New Zealand has cost the Australian taxpayers £3,569,000. Despite & favourable adjustment, it is expected ' to cost another £1,500,000 in the current year and that by the end of the third year Australia will have paid a total of £5,000,000. eorrespondents emphasise that while the Government has dropped the price control subsidies, it is still paying a heavy subsidy on New Zealand bread.
