Personal Miss Joyce Woodmass, 'daughter of Mr. and Mrs.- N. R. Woodmass, of Moutoa, has been selected as the Country Queen in the forthcoming War Memorial Carnival. Carnival Next Week The queen carnivaL to raise funds for the Shannon" and District's War Memorial Hall will open next Thursday evening, when a social and dance will be held in the Druids' Hall. The two queens, Miss .Margaret MacLean (town) and Miss Joyce Woodmass (country) will be intro'duced to the public. Dancing will be held until 9 p.m., when a short concert programme will be given, after which supper will be served an'd dancing will- continue until 1 a.m. Successful Badmmton Ball The Shannon Badmmton Club held its third post-war ball in the Druids' Hall last Monday evening. There was a large attendance of dancing enthusiasts from all parts of the district, and members of neighbouring badminton v clubs. The hall was very gaily decorated for the occasion and the ladies of the club, aosisted by a willing band of helpers, provided a delightful buffet .supper. Dancing was enjoyed until a late hour. Extras were provided by Misses D. Wood and D. Ward.
