More Immigrants Due On Saturday
: WELLIN G-TON, Sept.c30.-_ The Minister of Immigration (Mr. McLagan) released the details today of the next "party of assisted settlers to arrive in New Zealand. The Tamaroa which is due at Wellington on October 2, carries 97 assisted settlers and 93 Grovernineiit-sponsored passengers. The assisted settlers comprise mainly nursing staff for hospitals, skilled tradesmen for the Post and Teiegraph Department,- . and ,§h.orthand typists. The. balance of the partv' is inade up of men for the mines, sawmills, and Htate hydro-electrie decvelopment works, also engineering tradesmen, and some women and girls^ for doinCstic and factory work. - The Minister said the tradesmen. for tho Post and Teiegraph Department and the shorthand typists were all "'required for employment in Wellington where thev were mo.st urgentlv needed. Of the 31 nursing staff, the Health Department liad alloeated 26 to %North tslaud hospitals. mainlv in the Waikato district. It had, tlrerefore, boen possible on this occasion to allocate only 23 of the party to the Soutli Island.
