Increase in Levy on Hides
WELLINGTON, Sept. 30. Owing to tlie increased demand for New Zealand hides, overseas prices paid during Septemlier have increased • to such an extent that tlie hides committee has, in terins of their instruetions from the Economic Stabilisation Commission, increased tlie export .levy rate on all ox and eow hides eovering ail grades and all weights, by 3d per pound. The new rates of 9d per pound will operate on and after October 1. Bull and vearling hides and also calf skins other than freezer, remain unchanged at rates which came iato operation on September 1, 1948.
