Received Thnrsday, 8.35 p.m. BRISBA'NE, Sept. 16. The assertion that Australian Communists would fight on the side of the Soviet if Australia were involved in war with Russia, was made hy Mr. G-. Burns, an exe'cutive member of the " ' Queensland Comnumist Party, in a forum discussion organised by the Queensland People 's Party. The subject of the discussion was "That Communism is not compatible with personal liberty. ' ' In reply to a question, Mr. Burns I said: "If Australia were involved in ! war between Soviet Russia and the I Western Powers, it would be a conI flict between Soviet Russia and Ame- | rican and British imperialism. We I wonld oppose that war and wonld j fight on the side of the Soviet. That j is a direct answer. ' '
