First Round Of Golf Championships
The first round of the 1948 championships of the Otaki Golf Club was played on Saturday under i'deal conditions. Results were: — , Senior: E. Gray beat W. D'Ath, J. D'Ath" beat A. Harper, Z. Gray beat H. Derham. Intermediate: N. Gray beat D. G. Reid, W. Rzoska beat N. D. Anderson, B. Rhodes beat D. Harper. Junior: R. Buxton beat L. G. Gimblett, -E. Tooby beat N. Willis, A.. Wilson beat H. Brunton, P. Willis beat E. Jensen. A bisque bogey was played. in lonjunction with the championship matches and for non-quali-ders, an-d this was won. by E. P. Simcox with the splendid score of :our up. This earned him a fur;her reduction in handicap and ne s now on the 12 — 8 mark, havlng jommenced the season on 22 — 17. Next Saturday the secoiid round
of the championships will be played, with a stabieford to be played in conjunction. On Sunday the Otaki Club visited the Buck.ey links at Shannon for an inter-club match with that club. Otaki proved too strong for Buckley, winning 26 games to four, with three halved.
