Pretty Otaki Wedding
The Anglican Church, Otaki, was the scene of a yery pretty wedding, when, on August 28, Edna Sylvia, second daughter of j Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Jacobs, of Otaki { Beach, was married to Georgel( ira ward, eider son of Mr. and Mrs. |j A. Robinson, of Liverpool, Eng- ] land. Canon H. E.- K. Fry was the r officiating minister. and Miss B. Swabey presided at the organ. The church had been • artistically decorated by two cousins of the j bride, Misses Joy and Bernice , Procter, with spring blossom, , daffodils and Otaki pinks. , The bride, who was given away j by her father, entered the church wearing a powder blue. tailored suit, with which was a pastel pink . blouse and navy blue accessories. She also wore a string of pearls and carried a houquet in blue tonings of freesias, hyacinths, cyclamen, stock and maidenhair lern. / The bride's attendant, her sister, Jean, wore a suit of cyclamen wool-de-chine, the coat having a pleated fish tail effect, while her accessories were in navy blue. She carried a bouquet in pink tonings of freesias, stock, hyacinths, cyclamen and maidenhair fern. Mr. Les. Giddens, of Otaki, was best man. On leaving the church, the bride was presented with satin horse shoes by her small sister, Rosemary, and by her cousm, Noeline McEwan. After the ceremony the guests were entertained at a rec&ption in the Anglican Hall, presided over by Canon Fry, and later at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs. The three-tiered wedding cake, which graced the bridal table and was much admired, was the worx of Mrs. H. Tews, of Otaki. It had as a top-piece a siiver vase of flowers, which had decorated the wedding cake of the bride's grandmother, Mrs. J. E. . McEwen. •The bride's mother chose a navy blue tailored costume, with a cream satin blouse and navy blue accessories, while she wore a spray of orchids and baronia. The happy couple later left for Napier, where the honeymoon is to be spent, amidst showers or conffetti and good wishes from friends and relatives. The guests included visitors from the Wairarapa, Wanganui, Palmerston North and Wellington. Prior to her marriage the bride was the recipient of gifts from the Otaki Hockey Club's committee and from the nurses and patients of the Otaki Sanatorium.
