Checking Up On Illegal Raffles
„ WANGANUI, Sept. 9. A move is being made here to check illegai raffies and eompetitions, fund raising activities which became promineut diD'ing the war years ax\d have since been carried 011 to augment funds of sports and similar bodies. The j>olie c, in what is believed to be a Dmninion-wide activity, have drawn j the' attention of printers that the printing of tickets is illegai and also the | publication of results in newspapers. It has also been pointed out that the use of mails to forward tickets is an offence and that not only the solling of tickets but also the purchasing of them makes persons a party to an offence.
