Question Time In House

WELLINGTON, Sept. 7. - Several questions were asked by members when the House of Representatives resumed today. Mr. A. S. Sutherland gave notiee to ask the Minister of Finance whether, in view of the Government 's action in redueing the. exchange rate, it was now prepared to reduce taxation and other charges for Goverenment services, imniediately. He also asked if consumei subsidies made at the expense ot primary proaucers from the proceeds of the saies of hides, pelts, tallow, etc., used locally,- would be terminated forthwith Mr. D. C. Ividd gave notice to ask the Minister of Agriculture to consider urgently the withholding of further Aus tralian wheat as recent samples had been found to contain saffron thistl^, a noxious -weed reputedly more dangerouto farm lands than 'Californiau thistle. Air. Kidd asked for an assurance that further shipments of Australian wheat would be free of this unwanted seed. Dr. A • M. Finlay gave notice to ask the Prime Minister if he would confinn a recent stalemont of Mr. Chifley that no Labour Government was a party to any secret wartb'ic conference at which spiieres of infiocncc were agreed to and other eoncessions made. Dr. Finlay asked tfie Prime Minister to inform the House if New Zealand 's interests had been adversely afliected by these seeret agd apparently binding agreements.
