End Seen to Meat Rationing
WELLINGTON, Sept. 7, It is expected that the end of next month will see meat removed from rationing in New Zealand. It is likeiy that from November 1, only butter supplies will he rationed. While no one in the . Wellington meat business was prepared today to say definitely that meat would he derationed after the period of the presejit ration books, it is known that leading representatives of the New Zealand butehery trade have rece»L ly heen in Wellington for di&cussions on the matter. The Comnfission which recently investigated the meat trade, reported in favour of the ending of rationing and this has heen supported by Government members . in the House of Representatives. It is unlikely, however, that butter will be freed from rationing though there. bave been suggestions that the weekly ration may he restored to eight ounces. rrnirnmmJmmmtmm
