t PrsonRi Mrs. E. Tooby, of Otaki Railway, and her daughter, Miss Dorothy Tooby, are visiting Rotorua. Mrs. W. Herbert, of Mill Road, ptaki, has left on a holi'day for day trip to Wairakei. Miss Pat. Ralph, Mill Road, Otaki ,has left on a holiday for Christchurch and Dunedin. Mrs. Harold Anketell, of Rangiuru, Otaki, who has been indisposed for some time past, ' has made a good recovery aird has returned from hospital to her home. Mr. K. S. Ames, of Tasman Road, who is a candidate for the municipal bi-election to be held on Wednesday, September 15, has been a resident of Otaki for the past six years. Prior to serving with the armed forces overseas, he was engage'd as a cost accountant for a leading Wellington wholesale house. Mr. Ames was nominated by two returned servicemen, Messrs. J. MacLeod and R. Cleland. House Party At Mission Camp About 40 members of the Evangelical Unions of Victoria University and Wellington Training Colleges attended a house party last weekend at the Otaki City mission camp. The chief speaker was Mr. Gordon Rowe, LL.M., who gave a series of three addresses 011 "Abraham." Other speakers were Dr. R. Brown, a missionary from South America and Mr. K. Roundhill, B.A. A "brains trust" was one of the highiights of the house party. The hosts were Mr. and Mrs. Kirkby, of Wellington. Successful Danee The dance organised by the Ban'doliers marching team committee, and held in the Raukawa Hall on Friday night, proved an putstanding success. The atten- . dance exceede'd the most sanguine expectations and dancing was indulged in until a late hour to music supplied by Miss W. Tahiwi and Mr. W. Neville, assisted by Mr. L. Housiaux. Extras were provided by Mrs. I. Cudby and Messrs. P. McMinn and R. Robinson. A lucky spot waltz was won by Miss S. Coe, of Waikanae, and Mr. J. Hodgetts, and other novelty dances by Miss Dawn Wp-~ liams and Mr. P. Brunell and Miss Ruth Nicholls and Mr. R. Brunell. Card winners were Mr. R. Nicholls and Mrs. E. Ransfield firsts and Miss R. Royal and Mr. P. Wehipeihana seconds. Other competitions were won by Messrs Mr. P. Mc Minn Levin and W. Wilton, Otaki Railway. Mr. L. Moss very ably carried out the duties of M.C. As a result of this and former dances the committee will now be able to procure marching boots for the team.
