Earthquake Shocks In Bay Of Plenty
AUCKLAND, Sept. 6. Tlie heaviest earthquake, experieneed in tlie Opotiki and Whakatane district for' a long period, oecurred shortly after 12.30 today. Tlie earthquake was preceded by a r»n ililing noise and after a sliort gentle inuvement, there was a sudden heavy upward jolt. Further jolts lasted about four seeonds. Apart from a few articles which were dislodged from shelves, no damage was reported.
