Farmer's Good Fortune
CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 4. The first prize of £10,000 in aii overseas lottery has been won by a Cantor" bury ticket holder, The latest eonsultatiou has been won by Mr. J.- A. McLauclilan, a farmer, of West Eyreton, near Cust. . , Mr. McLauehlan did not know of his good fortune until he was told by a reporter by telephone. His reaetion was one of sheer disbelief at the start. His first remark was: "That will be tlie day." He was finally convinced when the winning number was read to him. He ckeeked it and said: "I have just been feeding pigs. I. have a darned good niind to go out and feed them some more." Mr. McLauclilan. has been on "the same mixed farm of 200 acres for 25 years. He is niarried with three grownup children and is thinking of taking a trip- to England. A £10,000 prize in Australian lotteries is now wortli a little over £7500 as a result of the exchange lift.
