HOROWHENUA SENIORS HAVE ANOTHER WIN

Although intermittent glimpses of constructiye. .an& liant "f ootbail .v^erb seen,. th&- fea-tch between Ho.r6whnu^ and Wellingtqn B at Lower Hutt" was for' tlie most part decidedly dull. A tigerish Horowhenua pack, outweighed almost to a man, should take the major part of the credit for their team's 13—11 win, They (kept conscientiously to their task up till very late' in the second spell, when the weight factor obviously started to tell. For the most part, back play was almost ,non-existent, and it was not till J. Dougan went into first fiveeighth for Wellington in the. second spell that the line functioned with any crispness. The main trouble appeared to be at the centre berth, occupied till he went off by Logan. He watched the man instead of the ball and consequently fumbled ,badly. He did, however, display a very.powerful fend. Overmuch ineffectual kicking by the Horowhenua inside backs ;wasted many of that side's attacking opportiinities. The former Wellington representative- R. Smith frequently showed out on attack and scored two typical runaway tries. Both front rows were frequently penalised- for' hooking breaches, . For Horowhenua, Lincoln and Ngatana -were* two1 fine forwards, though all worked hard. In the backs Smith, Heremaia, Sciascia and Pederson were .the best.
