AUCKLAND, Sept. 3. Work may resume in the Maedonald, Pukemiro and Glen Afton mines next week. A spokesman of the strikers' committee said touiglit that proposals to be put to the nieeting in Huntly ot men from the idle mines tomorrow morning might eifect a settlement. He had not made any predietions before, but this tiine the committee was hoping that a settlement was "looming up." No replv had yet been received to the men's second request for the national executive of the United Mine Workers' UnibtL to visit Huntly to discuss the dispute.
