Aniiiversary of Card Evenings The Shannon branch of, the Labour Party recently cellebrated eight years of successfully ; conducting weekly card evenings. . To mark the occasion a special prize of a tablecloth was competed for and was won by Mrs. J. Snclair. The July points prize was Won by Mr. McLaggan. Last Friday* evening the prize-winners were Mrs. W. Picard and Mr. McLaggan. Good*WMtebait Catches A good run of whitebait over the past few days has been reported from perso.ns fishing on the Manawatu River at Moutoa and Buckley. Over the weekend one fisherman secured a catch of over twelve pounds, while aMoutoa (resident is content with two pounds a day whieh he. has been securing within an hour or so. It is understood from Foxton that good catches are being obtained there also.
