Personal Miss M. Isaacson. spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. G. Fitzgerald, Plimmer Terrace. Mr. Ron Grant was a weekend visitor to Shannon from Lower Hutt. . Miss G. Ch'ester and Miss A. Callesen, of Palmerston North, were home for a few days this week. Mrs. N. Birch, who has been spending a few days with Mrs. Henshaw, Pretoria Road, returned to her home in Palmerston North on Sunday. Mr. F. Curran, of Wanganui, spent the weekend as the guest of his mother, Mrs. Curran, Senr. Mr. R. Hateley and Miss D. Haiteley, of Wellington, were the guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. Hateley, Mangaore, for the weekend. ' 1 No Unusual Demand for Sugar - Although sugar was "off the ration" list yesterday, local grocers report that there was no great demand, most eustomers making purchases of six pound lots. One bag was the only large quantity sold by one grocer. It is expected, however, that the demand will increase during the jam making season.
