Support for the suggestiou that the present limtt of 40 miles an hour fo.r inotor vehicles on open highwa.ys shonhl be abolished was given today by the Xorth Island ilotor Union _ at the annual conference. The union instructed its representative on the Koad Safetv Council (Mr. W. II. Brown.' Manawatu) to move to. have that; speed limit removed when the Council next meets. An amendment that the speed limit. be raised to 50 miles was lost on the voices. The opinion of tho,s.e supporting the abolition of the speed" limit was that all motorists should drive to the common safety.
