Xt ■ The death occurred on Wednesday of Mr. Henry Alfred Smith, of Paekakariki, aged 75 years. Deceased was in business at Otaki as an electrician some ten years ago. Miss E. Chennells, of the Otaki State School stair, intends spending the holidays at her home in carterton, whiie Miss K. Keddell, also ,of the State School siaff, intends visiting her brother in Greytown. Txie total rainfall for the three days ending 9.30 a.m. on Thursday was 109 points. Birthday Surprise Members of the Otaki Women s Institute singing circle gathered at the hcme of Mrs. W. Percival recently, the occasion being the birthday of the conductor of the circle, Mr. W. H. Townrow. The function was arranged as a surprise party, and games, singing and competitions were indulged in. Supper, which included a birthday cake, was served, and members paid tribute to their. leader and toasted him with musical honours. , .
