"'WELLLNG-TONy AhgAisP-20. Considering that three days of so'lid raeing.h'ave alre'ady - been held on the Riccarton courSejthe •fields' for thenoncluding day tomorrow of the Grand Natiofea! meetm'g have filled ^re- ' markably well. With the jumping stars of the first two days absent horses unlucky on those days are likely to come into their own in the jumping events tomorrow. Irefer to Arabian Night in the' Lincoln Steep.le.chase and Boolamskeein the Sydenham Hurdles. Both these grand jumpers and. solid stayers are> more than likely to be the stars of the concluding day. • >
The Pakuranga Hunt Cmbs annual meeting tomorrow wiil mark the opening of the new season in the Auckland Province. Some promising three-year-oids (will be having their first race for some time and several good performers of last season are also to reappear. The Egmont, Wanganui and Taranaki Hunt Ciubs' opening day at New Plymouth tomorrow has drawn several horses from as" far as Auckland. Arabian Night's gallant performance to run second to Brookby Song in the Grand National Steepleehase with his rider without irons for threequarters of the journey will earn him warm favouriiism. in tomorrow's Lincoln Steepleehase. It peems as though Arabian Night' has only to jump the counsry to be proclaimed the winner, buc in Lisheen he might flnd an improved opponent. Bravura may be the best of the rest of the field. It is not a strong field in the Sydenham Hurdles in which the cons.stent but unlucky Beolamskee wiil have a good chance to reach the winning list at the meeting. He looks a very bright prospect. . Most danger is likely to .cdme..frpin Skywriter, Young Bob* Sphere and Turf Topic. The last named is expected to put up a good performance. The Heathcote Handicap is open, with Ballinagh, Dark Arrow and Thornbridge the favoured trio, but lower down the weighta Fine Night might be the upsetdng factor. His track work was no„hing less. than brilliarit earlier in the week . and Ballinagh may find a tough snag in Fine Night to beat. •Da Vinci is a firm favourite for the. Selwyn Handicap with Wonder Boy, Lovemorn, Juiius Caesar and 'Special Ffight also in keen demand. A • likely lightweight is Haughty Dick who is expected to race prominently.
