FARMERS WILL BE SAFEGUARDED
WELLINGTON, August 19. Mr. Nash, int^rviewed, said the interests of primar-y producers would he safeguarded. The guaranteed price system would operate just as ' in the past. The Dairy Industry Marketing Commission would work out the extra costs and they would he paid out. The cjuestion of prices for meat always had been negotiated between the Meat Board and Government. The price schedules had been fixed and he aasumecl the same procedure would he .followed again. ■ Asked if any compensation or recompense would be available to those who had imported goods at the old rate, Mr, Nash said the new parity rate operated immediately and there could he no adjustment. The value of import licences had been worked out on the old basis. "We| have the same funds in London," said Mr. Nash.
