Mr. and . Mrs. E. Hewitt, of Pleasant Point, formerly residents of Levin, are spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Clark,- Salisbury Street. « The Difector-General of the Australian Department * of Social Services, Mr. F. H. Rowe, will arrive at Auckland by the Aorangi on Monday. The object of the visifi is to bring to finality certain proposals of the Commonwealth Gov-., ernment concerning social welfare including 'child endowment, widows' pensions and unempioy-. ment and sickness benefits. While in New Zealand Mr. Rowe will also study the Dominion's handling of rehabilitation, health oenefits an'd dental schemes.
