Local R.S.A. To Conduct Golf Tournament For District Members

In keeping with the progressiveness of the local R.S.A. golfing enthusiasts of this body have arranged a one-day tournament to be held on the Levin links on August 29, for district and other returned servicemen who have been handicapped by a golf club. This is an innovation from the golfing angle locally and the sponsors are to be congratulated on their enterprise which will tend to strengthen the old "digger" spirit.

All district clubs have. been eircularised but in the event of aclub: not having received advice and a; copy of the day's programme, the' con'ditions of piay are as follows : ( l ) competitors must be Returned Servicemen who have beeni handicapped by any golf club. ,(.2)* Piay wili be as follows: — Morning: Me'dal round with prizes1 :or best nett and best gross scores and a stapieford, no competitor to, win mor e ihan oue prize. ; Afternoon teams match, with the .eams drawn and single and fourball bogey. (3) Generous prizes will i be presented for the winner of each; competition. (.4) Lunch, afternoon, tea and moderate refreshments will? be provl'ded. (5) Entry fee will be; ten shiliings. A very energetic committee wilL be runiiing the tournament and cverything points to it being an exceptionally good day. It is not being run for profit and an attempt) will be made on the afternoon of; the day to disperse any surpiiu by way of extra refreshments. Roll up, diggers, the day is yours. INTER-CLUB FIXTURE On August 22 two matches wilL j

be piayed by the Levin Golf Club against members of the Otaki Club. The senior side will act as hosts to senior Otaki players at Levin, while the j unior side will travel toi Otaki. All players desirous of competing in either game are asked to post their lianies on the list provided-in the club house, and as two numerically strong sides will be neede'd, all players are urged to enter accordingly. The j unior members selectc-d to travel to Otaki will be advised of travelling arrangements on Saturday afternoon next. THE FINER POINTS ABOUT THE ART OF PIVOTING Pivoting can be accomplished in the foliowing manner: Give no tliought to your toes, ankles, knees, hips cr shoul'ders while swingingj at the ball. Concentrate on swing-| ing the club in the usual manner.! If you do this, and permit youri body to respond freely to the swing; of the arms, it will pivot in the right way and at the right degree. Truthful No Doubt In a bogey match most players! start off with "Colonel Bogey" and, cone home with "General Alibi."
