WELLINGTON, August 17. " At question time in the House of Representatives, Mrs. Ross (Hamilton, Opposition) gave notice ' to ask tne Minister in Charge of State Hous'ing, whether the Minister 's attention had been drawn to an apjieal made in a Wellington newspaper offering a baby ' for adoption. ' - • (The report stated that a yopng-.. •married..couple, driven by desperation 'through .being unable to flnd a house had. offered their six-mont-hs-old daugh-. ter for adoption, had received 23 yeplies and did not lcnow wliat to do). "• Mrs: Ross asked the Minister to inv.estigate the case and, if the position was as stated, to have the d'epartment take all possible steps to flnd a home for this family. Mr. P. Kearins (Waimarino, Labour) a few minutees later gave notice to ask the Prime Minister whether his attention had been drawn to a newspaper. re: port of an address given by Sir Patrick Duff who stressed the importance of the home as the basis of civilisation, and asked "whether he t'eels these views, which are sliared by all riglit thinking men and women. should be conimunicated to the young couple who showed so little responsibility because of thcir present housing diffieuities, that they advertised their iufant chiid for adoption. ' '
