Wartime regulations dealing with aliens, are embodied in legislative form by the Aliens Bill whicli was introduced and read a first time in the House of Representatives touight. Air. Frasei said the Bill was really the eounterpart of the British Nationality and New Zealand Citizenship Bill now under discussion in the House. The Bill dealt exclusively witji the status and registration of aliens and a good many of the war regulations dealimr with tlieir

registration, change of name and cliange of registration, were embodied in it. Provision for the deportation of aliens who turned otit to be criminals, was also continued in the lqgislation. Real and personal property may be held by an alien Britisli-protected person or any Iriah citizen- in the samft manner as a, British subject_ but this shall not operate so as to qjialify an. alien for any office or for any parliamentary, municipal or other franehise. Nor shall it qpalify any alien to be theowner of a British ship or of any share: in a British ship. Any alien Brffcishprotected person or Irish citizen sh^.ll; be triable in tlie saine manner as aj British subject. The registration- provisions- do not apply to an alien, under 16 years of age.
