Colourful Setting For Otaki Wedding
. Tastefully decorated with pink japonica, white plum blossom and dainty pastel poppies, the Methodist Church, Otaki, on Satui'day, August 7, provided a colourful setting for the wedding of Violet Rooertson, second daughter of Mr., and Mrs. D. C. Taylor, of Rangi-j uru Road, Otaki, to -Robert Whliam, elder son of Mrs. and the late Mr. C. R. Fisher, of Johnsonville. The Rev. R. Grice officiated and Mr. V. Gwynn was at the organ. Entering the church escorted'by her father, the bride for this important occasion had chosen a gown of ivory moss crepe, with swached hipline, ending in a bustle bow at the back, with a plain tulie veil held in place with a coronet of white hyacinths. She carried a shower bouquet of white hyacinths and stock, and wore a triple'peari necklace. Attending the bride were Miss Kathleen MacDonald (chief), of Te Horo, cousin of the bride, and Miss Margaret Fisher, of Johnsonville,, sister of the bridegroom. Turquoise bl.ue moss crepe, with heart shaped neckline, fitting bodice, and frilled hfpline, was worn by both bridesmaids. They carried shower bouquets of red camellias, cyclamen, gerberas and geraniums. Mr. V. G. Warren, of Dunedin, was best man, and Mr. M. Fisher, of Johnsonville, brother of the bridegroom, was groomsman. During the signing of the register Mr. . W. H. Townrow sang . "Where e're you Walk." Mr. Gor- ' don Thistletop brother-in-law of the bride, perfonned the duties of usher at the church. As the bridal party left the church the bride was presented with two lucky horse shoes by little Miss Celia Breeze, ' niece of the bridegroom, and by Master Arthur Webby, nephew of the bride. The reception which followed was held in the Raukawa Hall, where Mr. and Mrs. Taylor, assisted by Mrs. Fisher, received some- 140 guests. Mrs. Taylor wore a navy tailored costume, with navy hat and accessories, with a shoulder spray of red camellias and cyclamen, Mrs Fisher chose a brown frock, with hat to match and a. brown fur coat, with a shoulder spray of yellow freesias and maidenhair fern. All the bouquets were the work of Mrs. M. McGilligan, of Otaki. Gracing the bridal table was a three t ered wedding cake, beautifully iced and decorated by Mr. Arthur Webby, of Otaki, brother-in-law of the bride. The usual toasts were honoured, that of the bride and bridegroom being in the hands of Mr. B. Ryder, of the bride 's parents in the hands of Mr. B. H. Rhodes, the bridegroom's mother in the hands of Mr. C. Clark, and that of the Rev. Grice in the hands of Mr. H. B. Edhouse. Mr. R. Bills carried out the duties of toastmaster. For travelling, Mrs. R. W. Fisher wore a burgundy frock, shoes, hat and gloves, and an oatmeal coat. The honeymoon will be spent at the Hermitage, and their future home will be at Naenae.
