Labour Party Activities

The May meeting of the Manawatu Labour Representation Committee was held in Laurvig's Hall, Shannon, when Mr. H. W. Wood, presided over a good attendance. As this meeting was -the first after the annual conference at Dunedin, most of the time was devoted to conference matters. The L.R.C. was represented at Dunedin by the minute secretary, Mr. E. J. Hemmingsen, who gave a full report. He was accorded a vote of thanks for his interesting outline of the business. Bunnythorpe was the venue of the June meeting, when the attendance was good, with dele.gates attending from many parts of the electorate. Two visitors from Wellington were present, Mr. A. J. McDonald (national secretary) and Mr. Johanson, a member of the national executive of the party and gave addresses. Both visitors werg thanked for their talks.
