' . AUCKLAND, August 7. The ship bell bf H'.MiS: Achilles, a former Newr.;Zealand crui^er and one of the'victors o^.the . Bhttle of the Eiver Plate, may retttrn to Auckland. It is ono of 406 bells that have been offered for sale by the Admiralty and an application for its'purchase is being made Ln London by the Auckland division of theiNavy League's Sea Cadets. The catalogue of bells also includestwo from H.M.S. Ajax which was a partner of the Achilles in the Eiver Plate action and one from the battleehip Anson. One of the Ajax 's bells weighing 148 Ibs. is completely serviceable and may be purchased for £10, but the others that are up for sale are in various states of repair, each with a long record of service.
