■ — . ♦ Personal , * 2. Mr. and Mrs»iR.\j. Law, of "Te Rohenga," are on a holiday visit to •the Waikato district, Mr. and Mrs..K. Henry, of Wellington, are spending a few days with Mrs. Henry's mother, Mrs. C. B. Gunning, Bryce Street,. Mr. and Mrs. A. Curran, of Wellington, spent the weekend with Mrs. Curran, Senr., at the Albion Hotel. The friends of Mr. S. Shaw, Stout Street, will regret to hear that he has found it necessary to enter the Palmerston North Hospital to undergo an operation. Mesdames R. Lester, of Mangaore, and R. Roberts, of Shannon, were local "delegates to the Dominion conference of" Woihen's Institutes, held recently ,in Wellington. Carterton visitors ,to Shannon over the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. M. Waterson and Mr. A. InneS, who were the guests of, Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Hyde and Mrs. E. Retter,- Julyan Street. "Messrs. H. Curran, A. Jud'd and M. Curran made . a quick trip to Christchurch to visit the Grand National meeting. The party left on Friday afternoon re turning on Sunday morning. Golden Wedding On a recent evening some 20 members of the family journeyed from Shannon to a surprise party to Mr. and Mrs. W. Easton, of Foxton, to hono.Ur their .gol'den wedding anniversary, A very happy time was spent in games and competitions and -the important toast of the evening was most capably proposed by the only son of the family, Mr. W. Easton (Shannon). Beverley Easton presented her grandmother with a beautiful floral spray. Floral Work Demonstrated Members of the WD.F.F. and many guests from the Moutoa branch of the W.D.F.F. and the local Women's Institute were entert'ained by: ah expert demonstration of modern floral decoration giveh by Miss O'Brien, of Massey College, at the" August meeting of the Shannon W.D.F.F. NUmerous hints on arrangement and display of exhibits in flower shows were given. Thanks ' 'were extended to . Miss O'Brien'- for her most ' interesting and instructive address. Thanks were also extended' to the WJXF.F. by the visitors for their kindness in jssuing a special invitaton to be present. Mrs. K. Mtchell, president of the Shannon branch,: gave .. ah excellent .repokt of the recent Dominion conference, ' which she attended,
