Trades Council Opposed To Compulsory Service
GREYMOUTH, Aug. 9. At a meeting of the West Coast Trades Coii'ncil, a(resolution opposing compulsory service for either miiitary or national purposes was carried without dissent. A supplied report says that •speakers f or - the " resolution stated that they recognised that compulsion for either purpose in peacefcime was against the interests of the working class, and that with the shortage of labour the suggestion bf compulsory miiitary service seemed ridiculous as well as unnecessary.
