Experimental River Work

A novel type of river-protection work is at present being carried out by the Manawatu Catchmenl Board at An'derson's Bend, where damaged pile protection is being replaced by a high wall of limestone rock. The work is of an experimental nature and if it proves as satisfactory as expected similar walls will be erected at other points on the Manawatu Ri.ver. The rock for the work -is being quarried at the eastern end of the Manawatu Gorge.
