Tokomaru W.I.'s Birthday

There was a good attendance of members at the 18th birthday of the Tokomaru Institute, held in the Tokomaru Hall recently. The stage and hall were tastefully decorated for the occasion and visitors from neighbouring institutes Were welcome'd by the president. Mrs. Kyne was welcomed as a new member. Two short plays were presented by the drama group and were well received by those present. There Was a very good resporise in the appeal for tinned goods to swell the food parcels which will be •seht to Britain. During afternoon tea the birthday - cake, which occupied the place of honour in the hall, was cut and best wishes to the institute were conveyed by the visitors. The usual competitions were held and it was reported that Mrs. Walker would represent the institute at the Dominion conference in Wellington.
