; At a recent meeting of the Shannon branch of the Returned Services'- Asso.ciatipn,/- Ulajan, was expressed at the falling off. in the attendance' of members at the >general meetings. Following a discus•sion, it was resolved to notify all members " that 'the • next-' general meeting", du'e ■ to take place .oii Sat•grdayj August 14," woul'd take the form- of a .social gatherhig. • The 'gener'a! business 'of the branch will 'be discussed at 8 p.nf. and when this •is 'co'ricluded a," social hour or two \yill be hfeldb The meeting will be iiel*d in the supper 'room of the Lruids' Hall, instead of Laurvig's Hall as usually is the case. The president and executive have expressed the hope that such a social gathering will increase the attendance- and interest in the cause of the association. It' was also a'dvised that any member who is interested in the ballot for land settlement blocks should communicate with the secretary (Mr. E. J. Gunning) as soon as possible. The president of the Women 's Section advised the branch that her section was to commence its meetings in the afternoons instead * of evenings,.as an effort to eneourage wives of servicemen with children fco become members of the section. The first meeting is to be held on
Wednesday, August 25, at 1.45 p.m. The women's section- also advised that 'it was holding a Pad-dy's .market. in Laurvig's ■ Hall .on Friday, September 24, and would appreciate contributions. i
