Harris May Run Again By End Of Year
Received Wednesday, 10.15 a.m. LONDON, Aug. 3. Dr. A. E. Porritt stated that he hoped the New Zealand runner, Doug Harris, will be able to run again by the end of the year. He win be obliged to remain in St.l Mary's Hospital for some weeks toj ailow hi's partly torn tendon to ; heal. I Harris listened to the broadc'astl ,of the final of the 800 metres at ;St. Mary's Hospital. 1 Mr. D. T. Woodfield, the New Zealand manager, stated that Dr. Porritt decided it would be best for Harris to spend a few days in hospital for treatment of his wrenched achilles tendon. "Dr. Porritt told me there was no fundamental injury to the tendon-," said Mr. Woodfield, "but he felt it would be a safeguard to have Harris in hospital, where he can be looked af.er more easily."
