Holidays Which Fall On A Saturday Or Sunday
WELLINGTON, August 2. A move to have all statutorv holidays which fall on Saturday or Sunday, observed on the next succeeding working day, has been made by the Federation of 1 abour to the Minister of Lubour, Mr. McLagan, particularlv iu view of the fact that Christmas Day, 194S, and New Year's Day, .1949, will fall on Saturday. The national executive of the feder ation has informod trades councils and unions that the question is receiviiig the attention of the Minister. days to be observed on the next working day. In all cases quoted Anzac Day is excepted. The federation quotes the awards goveruing Otago- and Southland lime workers, Otago and Southland Hospital Boards' laundry workers, Otago loeal body otlicers, Burnside cement workers and the northern industrial district coopers' awards, in which this pro-: vision is made.
