Water Supply On County Road Discussed

w The paucity of the water supply to ratepayers who reside on the main county road received consid- £ ration at the Otaki Borough Council's meeting on Thursday night. Cr. N. D. Andersbn; stated that the recent fire in the locality called for immediate attention to be given to the water main there. It was explained that a twoinch main was installed and that it was not possible to improve the position at present, as an order for four-inch pipes placed some time ago could not be executed before November at the earliest. The Mayor, Mr. C. F. Atmore: stated that if it was at all possible the council should investigate the possibility of giving even a tempor■ary improved service, while Cr. H W. Hakaraia suggested that the Pubiic Works Department, should be asked to give the council the levels of the proposed footpath without further delay, so that the job *could be pushed on with immediately pipes were available.
