Launch Lost After Explosion
AUCKLAND, August 1. Catehing fire and sinking in deep water off Kauri Point after an explosion in its engine room this afternoon, a s nall fishing launch is a total loss. 3 he owner of the launch, iflr. P. J. Teller, wa§ having it towed to Cox's Creek to lay it up for overhaul. When the explosion occurred Mr. Teller was blown across' the engine room and was kuocked unconscious against the door. When he caine to a fire had a good grip on the boat and as it- was too late to use the engine room fire extinguisher against the blaze, he crossed- over to the towing craft. The launch was burnt down to the water 'a edge and sank, It ivas estimated to be worth about £400 and was only partly insured. Mr. Teller was unhurt.
