Beaches And Allocation Of Electricity
A suggestioii that steps be taken to isolate the coastal hoiiday resorts from the allocation of electric power to the rest of the Horowhenua was contained in a htter from the Levin R^tepayers' Association, in a letter addressed to the Horowhenua Electric Power Board and read at its monthly meeting on Wednesday. The association went 011 to state that it understood that ■ the allocation of power was based bn the peak load oyer the Christmas period, in which case it bonsidered that the district was beihg peiialised by the infiux of visitors. • That was quite wrong, ssid the managing-secretary, Mr. R. A. Frederikson. "We woul'd be quite pleased if the allocation was on that basis." He pointed out that the allocation was on a'n annual : basis and taken over the previous year's total consumplion. In reaiIty, the visitors materially assisted jy increasing the consumption and consequently the annual allocation. It would also not be fair for the boafd to Isolate a section of its district which had materially helpsd in the board's development, adde-d Mr, Frederikson. It was decided to write to 'the association tq that effect.
