July Meeting Of Levin Women's Institute
The July meeting of the Levin Women's Institute was held in th« Oddfellows' Hau recently, and was 'very wefl attended. . Mrs. Kellaway extended a welcome to all present, making special mention of five new members and two visiting menjbers, Mesdames Turper (Hawke's Bay) and B. Anderson (Lower Hutt). The thought' for the month, "It is useless to plan a better world unless we have better people to live in it," was,. brought by Mrs. M. Kehoe. The speaker at the next meeting will be the Rev. H. Squires, of the Wellington City Mission, and it was decided to engage the Century Hall so that members from other organisations could attend. Mrs, Anderson contrit)uted an anrusing . recitation, while Mrs. Spencer gave a most interesting address on woollens. The food for Britain competition was given by Mrs. Grifflth and was won by Mrs. Wilson, The resuits of the usual monthly competitions were ^Best flower : Mrs. Bird 1, Mrs. Kellaway 2, Mrs. Hyde 3. Best shrub: Mrs. Hyde 1, Mrs. Grifflth 2, Mrs. Mayham 3. Vegetable: Mrs. Hudson 1, Mrs, Maugham 2, Mrs. Tnotman 3. Bottle of peaches: Mrs. Hudson 1, Mrs, Hyde 2. Mop; Mrs. Hudson. 1, Mrs. Shaw 2, Mrs. Seddon 3.
