Pretty Rainbow Wedding At Otaki
-'•"All Saints' Anglican Church, Otaki, was the sceiie of a very pretty. rainbow wedding on Saturday ; last, \ when Doorren, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs; J. W. Scatchard, of Rangiuru, Otaki, was j oined ■" in matrimony with Roy Stewart, fourth son of Mrs. and the late Mr. W. Hearfield, ' of . Adelaide Road, Wellington. Canon H. E. K. Fry, vicar of All Saints'; was the .Officiatin'g minister.' The ' church had been tastefully decorated with ' arum liiies and lemon and white ranunculas! / To appropriate musijc played by Mrs. Gh Gray, the bride, wearing a lovely gown of cream satin, entered the church escorted by her father. . Fashioned : with a.scalloped train, the neckline of the gathere'd bodice and the long sleeves of the bride's .frock were trimmed with tiny satin loops. A scalloped pepium basque matched the train. A halo of orange blossom held in place a long scalloped net veil, beautifully embroi'dered with. lily of the valley and lovers' knots. The frock was the work of the bride's aunt, Miss M. Scatchard, of Wellington, and the veil is «. family heirloom, loaned by Mrs. Gear, of Wellington. The bride wore a gold loeket, the gift of the bridegroom, and a gold bangle. Her bouquet consisted of white camellias, white cyclamen and cream roses. Attending the bride were Miss Doreen Hearfield (chief) , sister of the bridegroom and Miss Ngaire Whiter, cousin of the bride, with Miss Frances Scatchard, -sister of the bride, as flower girl. The chief bridesmaid wore lemon , net over lemon taffeta, with lemon mittens. Feathers in the same shade heid ?n place a half veil. The second bridesmaid was similarly dressed in blue. They carried bouquets tq match. The flower girl wore pink hail spot net over pink satin, with vandyking around the bottoni of her skirt, and a headband of pink L, flowers. She ha'd a posy of pink . stock, cyclamen and daphne. Tne bouquets were the work of Mrs. H. Bradford, of Otaki. The bridegroom's gifts to the bridssmuids were necklaces of satin d'ors in shades to match their f rocks, and to the flower girl an engraved Signet ring. The best man was Mr W. Lahman, of Wellington, and Mr. S. Scatchard of Otaki, was groomsman. As the bridal party ieft the church, lucky horseshoes were presented to the bride by Misses Pam. and Janice Edwards and Master Dennis Hearfield, while the Aces basketball girls, in uniform, lined the route. At the reception held at the Raukawa Hall, Mr. and Mrs. Scatchard, with Mrs. Hearfield and her son, Mr. C. Hearfield, received the guests. Mrs. Scatchard wore a blue and white floral frock, with black coat and hat. Mrs. Hearfield was attired in a cinnamon" frock, with brown coat and hat. Gracing the bridal table was an iced threetiered cake, decorated with a lucky horse shoe, orange blossom and a bell. The toastmaster was Mf. Whittaker, of Wellington. The happy couple have been the recipients of many useful gifts, and of many congratulatory messages. When they left by car for the north following the reception and dance, Mrs. R. Hearfield was wearing a brown suit, with lemon accessories and a brown hat, trimmed with gold. Their future home will t be in Otaki.
